Hefei University of Technology
Hefei University of Technology is one of the famous key university
in China. It is located in Hefei, captial of Anhui province, the famous
scientific and green city. It was founded in 1945. In 1960, it was
recognize as a key university by the China Central Goverment.In
1979, Deng Xiaoping scribed the name of our university. After fifty
years' development, it has become a comprehensive university,
primarily engineering with science, management, arts and trading
combined togther.
Hefei University of Technology is very strong in education. It has its
large scale and size, complete basic facilities and excellent teachers
and professors. The campus has a total area of 780,000 square
meters with a flooring area of over 350,000 square meters. It has
built several buildings such as the Science and Technology Building,
the Experimental Building, Liberary, and Electric Audio-Video
Teching Building with advanced equipment. The university has 3200
employes, 1300 full time techers and 116 of them are professors or
senior title techers. 579 of 1300 techers are associate professors or
junior title techers.
Hefei University of Technology has fifteen Departments and
Insititutions: namely, Precise Instrument Dept., Mechanical
Manufacturing Engineering Dept., Meterial Science&Enginerering
Dept., Electrical Engineering Dept., Computer&Information Dept.,
Architecture Dept., Civil Engineering Dept.,
Resources&Environmental Dept., Chemical Engineering Dept.,
Architecture Engineering Dept., Management Engineering Dept.,
Applied Physice Dept., Social Science Dept., Applied
Mathematics&Mechanics Dept., Foreign language Dept., and
Graduate Department. It has thirty-eight subjects for bechelor
degrees, thirty-four subjects for master degrees and four subjects
for doctoral degrees. It also has eight Ministry-level key subjects. It
has a continuing college of education and rural industry college. In
the past fifty years, over 46, 000 two-year and three-year students,
undergraduates and graduates have graduated from our university.
In 1995, it has 11,680 registered students and 433 of them are
graduate students and doctoral students, 7,412 are two-year and
three-year full time students and undergraduate students. 3,835 are
continuing education students. The university carries out the policy
very carefully and it keeps reforming its teaching and improving the
quality of teaching. It has gradually developed the fine spirit of
"Hard-working, Disciplining, Seeking for the Truth and Creating".
The graduates of our university have the characteristics of "having
solid foundation for basic knowledge, being strong in engineering,
microcomputer knowledge, having a high level in foreign languages
and having a good personality". They are very popular with their
employers.
Hefei University of Technology is not only an education centerbut
also a scientific research center. It has twenty research institutes,
three engineering test centers, one A-level architecture institute and
one B-level Survey of Rock and Soil Design Institute. It has also set
up three "Anhui Scientific&Technological Research
Institute----Hefei University of Technology Subordinate
Institutes"and "Hefei Universityof Technology Wang Daying Village
Hi-Tech Industry Park". It has upgradeed its scientific research
prize-winner subjects' levels. During the ten years of 1985-1995, it
has awarded 205 scientific research achivement prozes. 9 items of
them were awarded the first, sceond and third prize of the state
level. 11 items were awarded the first prize of province level and
ministry level. Its scientific research funds keeping increasing. In the
past ten years,it has increased 23 times. In 1994, it reached the
amount of RMB42,170,000. It insists on the policy that scientific
research has to meet the requirments of economic development and
pays a lot of attention to the development of science and
technology. It follows the thoughts of "setting up the base in our
province and developing to all over China"and it has developed a
series of hi-tech products that have their own specialties.
The university takes an active participation in international academic
exchange.It has established intercollegiate cooperation and
exchange with over ten foreign universities in Germany, the United
States , Britain, Canada, Japan, and Denmark. It has cooperated
and exchanged successfully with Stuttgart University in Germany for
over fifteen years.
As time goes, we still have a long way to go.Hefei University of
Technology, which has experienced fifty years' journey, has now
stepped into a very important period of development. It has taken
on its brand new look and is marching bravely towards the
twenty-first century and is trying to step into "211"project as soon
as possible to be glorious once again.
